Group Psychotherapy

At present, a psychotherapy group is being offered online. A psychotherapy group is an evidence-based psychotherapeutic treatment which is also cost-effective. Groups can be helpful to explore and come to understand oneself in relation to others: a group can be a very effective way of unknotting difficult aspects of one’s relationships.

Groups consist of a maximum of eight members and meet weekly for an hour and a half. Because the consistency of the group is important to develop the climate for therapeutic work to take place, new members join only as spaces become available. For the full therapeutic benefit, the group is a medium term commitment (at least six months).

Anxiety about joining a group and speaking about one’s difficulties is a very normal part of the initial process of being in a group. Concerns about fitting in, being able to relate to others in the group and being understood are to be expected. As the group therapist, my role is to help the group to establish the emotional safety which is necessary to be able to do one’s therapeutic work in a group.

If you are interested in joining the group, I will invite you to meet with me to talk about the group so that we can think together about whether the group is a good fit for your needs.
